This incident has been resolved. Between approximately 00:59 CEST on 9 July and 03:40 CEST on 9 July, some members experienced errors or delays completing online sign-up when paying by BACS Direct Debit and Credit Card through Stripe, due to a temporary processing backlog. Normal processing has been confirmed since 05:00 CEST on 9 July.

Retroactive

Between approximately 01:00 CEST and 04:00 CEST on 9 July, some members attempting to complete online sign-up experienced errors or delays completing their membership sign-up when paying by BACS Direct Debit.
A large batch of mandate confirmations from our payment provider caused a temporary processing backlog, which delayed new sign-up requests queued behind it.
The backlog was fully cleared by ~03:40 CEST and processing returned to normal.
We’re reviewing processing capacity and monitoring to reduce the chance of similar delays in future.
